    A Systematic Way to Drive Creativity as A Leader
    Creativity goes beyond the common perception that it only lies in idea generation. In fact, everyone is creative in their own way.

    Rather than leave the creativity to a few who seem to excel in idea generation, leaders need to realise that creativity is required from the effective identification of problems, idea generation, and evaluation of ideas, to the final implementation of solutions. All along that way, the team must think and see problems in new ways and with different perspectives, to realise that there may be more than merely one “right” answer.

    This 1 day workshop shows participants how to foster their team’s ability to approach challenges and problems with appropriate techniques and tools take a process and methodical approach towards creativity and innovation.

    In the end, participants will come to realise that regardless of their industry or technical specialisation, that they work with a team of ‘creatives’.
    Objective
    Upon completion of this 1 day workshop, participants will:
    • Appreciate why everyone is creative in their own ways, and what it means to lead a team of ‘creatives’.
    • Gain clarity on the different forms of creativity, where it comes from, and its barriers.
    • Know how to prime the team for optimum situational creativity based on the intended degree of interaction.
    • Understand that creativity does not exist in a vacuum, and thrives as a team sport.
    • Realise that as a leader, they have to lead their team using tools and techniques, along with divergent and convergent thinking, in order to effectively identify the problem, generate ideas, evaluate them, and test the solutions.
    Outline
    Module 1: The creative leader -principle 1: Everyone is creative, in their own way.
    • Know where creativity comes from.
    • Reframing the definition of ‘creativity’, and what that means to be leading a team of ‘creatives’.
    • Learn that creativity exist within everyone in different forms, and how to use those differences in a synergistic manner.

    Module 2: The creative leader -principle 2: Creativity exist in different forms.
    • The trinity of Analytical, Critical, and Creative thinking.
    • Why, as a leader, you need to help your team gain clarity on where their creativity comes from.
    • Barriers to creativity: Limiting beliefs, Unhelpful thinking patterns, and our past experiences.

    Module 3: The creative leader -principle 3: Creativity depends on the degree of interaction.
    • The classic models of problem solving and its usefulness to ‘firefighting’ challenges in the workplace.
    • The systematic process of problem solving through keeping the end in mind.
    • Firefighting vs keeping the end in mind, the impact on your team, and what you can do to prime your team for optimum situational creativity.

    Module 4: The creative leader -principle 4: Creativity is a team sport.
    • Be equipped with creativity tools and techniques through an Agile methodology lens to easily double creativity and innovation in your team for idea generation and solution evaluation.
    • Learn why diversity in the team leads to greater levels of creativity and innovation, why different situations require the appropriate creativity tools and techniques, and what can a leader do about them.

    Module 5: Creativity - principle 5: Be clear on what problem you are trying to solve.
    • Realise that proper identification of the problem is essential as it influences the types of creative solutions.
    • Hone in on the exact ‘problem’ through methodical empathy, and use structured ideation to evaluate ideas.
    • Why, as a leader, you have to guide your team through the problem identification, idea generation and evaluation, and solution testing with the use of divergent and convergent thinking.

    Managers, Supervisors, Team leaders, Emerging leaders, and experienced individual contributors who need to drive creativity through their teams.
    Methodology
    Interactive and experiential trainer-led workshop with participant-led small group discussions and case studies.

    Each participant will receive a copy of Daniel’s First Time Leadership book as a post-workshop resource. The book contains 30 leadership principles revealed in stories based off real-life experiences of successful leaders from 37 countries.

    Profile of Daniel Lee
    With over 20 years of working in Australia and Singapore, Daniel Lee helps individuals become successful leaders by working with, training and coaching participants from different cultures and work backgrounds in a range of skills and mindsets.

    Prior to 2016 when he moved into full-time training, Daniel has had corporate experiences in public service, manufacturing, professional services, facilities services, and banking and finance, with much of that time spent in Learning and Development.
